Dark Knight - Movie Project

The Dark Knight is based on evil against good. The Joker, who in my opinion is one of the darkest characters in all movies, is tearing Gotham city down to pieces. His enemy, Batman, is the good guy who does all he can to save his city. Throughout the whole movie Batman has to stop the Joker's evil mischief and at the same time hide his identity. There is some actual logic behind the Joker's evil deeds. He is trying to get back at the city for rounding up all the criminals in Gotham and stopping everyone else's dark, evil doings.

The first layer is fairly obvious in one of the main characters, the Joker. He is the definition of evil. His face  covered in evil looking makeup and the crimes he commits shows that he is a true dark character. Also the setting for where most of the action takes place is at night. The plot is probably the most evil thing about the first layer. The idea of the Joker's evil, dark deeds is an awful thing to think about. Killing innocent people and blowing up a hospital is just pure evil.

Unlike the first layer the second layer is quite hard to describe. The voices of Batman is deep and raspy which shows him to be kind of mean and dark, but in a good way. The Joker on the other hand has a calm, whiney voice. You can never tell if he is serious or not because he is always laughing with an evil tone. Also the nick-name "Dark Knight" is given to him because he's only seen when it's dark, during the night. He is "dark" because he hides his identity from society because he doesn't want his personal life to interfere with his heroic life.
What motivates the Joker to commit the crimes he commits is sick. He is motivated to make Gotham city a real life hell because he wants to get back at the city for stopping all the other criminals. To me this doesn't make sense but to a sick, evil minded Joker it does.
The filmmaker conveys evil and darkness mostly through the Joker. His actions and his appearance is the ultimate darkness in the movie. The action scenes are mostly explosions and fires which also shows evil. The expressions of evil that had the most impact on me was the Joker's face and hair. He had evil makeup and greasy dark green hair. Every time I saw him in the movie it made me cringe.

(T-T) A connection that I made with the Dark Knight was with Spiderman 2. Both movies had good guys with hidden identities trying to defeat their enemies to protect the city they live in.

EQ: What does power have to do with fairness and justice?
An example that I found of how power has to do with fairness and justice in the Dark Knight was how Batman had just enough power to enforce fairness and justice againts the Joker. He did everything in his power to set things straight and make sure the Gotham city was safe.

The Dark Knight connects really well with Jordan's movie the Gladiator. Two of the main characters in each movie are almost identical in their actions. In the Gradiator, Maximus takes down people that the emperor, Commodus, is close to and thrives off it. In the Dark Knight, after Batman decided to save Harvey Dent instead of his girlfriend, Harvey took this the wrong way and things got out of control. He kidnapped people that were close to Batman as well and makes him suffer as he claims he does.
